BCAA Info And Products
Essential For All Bodybuilders And Athletes

Among the most beneficial and effective supplements in any sports nutrition program are branched chain amino acids. These are the essential aminos leucine, isoleucine, and valine.

Although these supplements have been around for a long time and the scientific understanding in the exercise performance benefits of BCAA supplementation is rich many people don't know exactly how they exert their effects or how and when to use them properly.

You probably know that amino acids are the building blocks of protein. When you eat a protein food, it gets digested in the stomach and intestine into individual amino acids and short chains of amino acids that are small enough to be absorbed into the bloodstream. These amino acids have far reaching effects in the body from building and repairing tissues, to producing chemicals that enable our brains to function optimally.

What Is The Difference Between Essential and Non-Essential Amino Acids?

Essential amino acids cannot be made by the body. You must get them from complete protein foods or combinations of incomplete vegetable foods. There are 9 essential amino acids: histidine, isoleucine, leucine, lysine, methionine, phenylalanine, tryptophan, and valine. Your body can make non-essential amino acids by itself from vitamins and other amino acids.

The term "non-essential" can be misleading since all amino acids are essential for proper metabolism and certain non-essential amino acids, such as glutamine, become very essential during illness or trauma. The 13 non-essential amino acids are alanine, arginine, aspartic acid, cysteine, cystine, glutamic acid, glutamine, glycine, hydroxyproline, proline, serine, & tyrosine.

The essential branched chain amino acids (BCAA's) are of special importance for athletes because they are metabolized in the muscle, rather than in the liver. Here's how this works: After digestion once protein is broken down into individual amino acids these aminos can either be used to build new proteins or be burned as fuel to produce energy.

Usually, Whey protein like ON 100%, amino acid content is enough.

Let's compare the amino acid contents of ON Whey and ON Superior Amino 2222.
Left side are the amino acids found from ON Whey. right side are the amino acids found from ON Superior Amino 2222.

/*Based on Superior Amino 2222 servings of 10 softgels per day

EAA (mg)
Tryptophan 240mg / *140mg
Valine 1440mg /*640mg
Threonine 1720mg /*530
Isoleucine 2470mg /*440mg
Lysine 2120mg /*1117mg
Phenylalanine 670mg /*800
Methionine 440mg /*390

CAA (mg)
Arginine 480mg /*1070mg
Cystine 440mg /*60mg
Tyrosine 590mg /*660mg
Histidine 400mg /*340mg
Proline 1540mg /*2250mg
Glutamine and Precursors 3870mg /*3620mg

NAA (mg)
Aspartic Acid 2490mg /*1430mg
Serine 1240mg /*950mg
Glycine 530mg /*1870mg
Alanine 1380mg /*1117mg

ON Why does not contain the following BCAA offered by ON Superior 2222 and I dont specifically know what they do:
Leucine 1320mg
Hydroxylicine 700mg
Hydroxyproline 1030mg

BB.com

"As we have already discussed, the fate of an amino acid after it is transported to the liver is highly dependent upon the body's needs at that moment. Immediately after exercise, when the muscle is receptive to nutrients and the blood flow to the exercise muscles remain high; a window of opportunity exists to aid muscular growth and recovery. Unfortunately, a high protein meal will not put significant levels of amino acids into your blood stream until a couple of hours after you eat it, especially if blood flow to the gastrointestinal tract has been diminished by a hard training sessions.

The most reliable way to deliver specific amino acids is to administer the particular amino acids themselves through free form amino acids. The value of free form amino acids is first and foremost is that they do not require digestion.
They are free of chemical bonds to other molecules and so move quickly through the stomach and into the small intestine, where they are rapidly absorbed into the bloodstream within fifteen minutes. This quick absorption helps prevent muscle catabolism. "

My own conclusion leads me to believe that you dont have to take 10 caplets of amino acids if you are taking whey protein. In my case, I am using the ON 100% Whey. I usually take 2 caplets after workout or within 90minutes PWO.

I take amino before and after workout. I usually take 4000mg a day. Plus I drink 2-3 servings of my protien shake. Amino comes in handy for me because I can take it by just grinding the tablets with my teeth, they tastes great, Its handy because I dont want to bring my shaker and protien powder at the gym (messy).
