Healthy Food from Restos

Hi guys!

Nice site! Congrats!

For people on the go, who are always on the street, it is hard to prepare a decent meal. So, my question is pretty simple. What are samples of healthy food we can buy from popular restaurants?

I was eating Tuna sandwich without dressing from Subway for several months. What are the other options?

Yes, eating out is a challenge. I guess it depends on your goals... If you're bulking, then its lesser of an issue... If you're trying to cut fat, then timing and food choices are more complex to consider....

It's easier if you try to short list foods that are "givens" to be "bad" for you...

So you take out fried food choices (and establishments)

Then you take out high saturated fat foods: Burgers, pizzas, fat beef etc.

Then you take out high GI and sweet foods: So bye bye dessert places.

You end up having mostly "normal" food that are lean... So go for restos that serve lots of veggies, steamed foods, grilled food, etc.

One of my favorite "good tasting" healthy food are grills like Gerry/Jerry's, Crocodile, etc. Grilled squid, fish, etc are great tasting, high protein, low fat and filling...

Good salads are hard to find, when you do, endulge hehe.

Chinese food usually are high in fat, try to stay out, unless you eat lugaw or noodles with lean cuts.

Filipino food are very high in sodium and saturated fat... BBQ, pork dishes etc are full of it.... Try to avoid those din...

Pastas are good, as long as olive oil ang pangluto.

Kung nasanay ka you won't look for those "bad" stuff anyway....

If going Japanese, I always eat sashimi or sushi. I guess eating out in general is a challenge. Good thing I don't eat out too often; at work, I always bring sandwich, or else have food cooked at home.

Onga no. Grilled! Tuna belly and squid! Yummy!

Japanese food din! Specially Sashimi! (The edible ones, hehehe)

Tough question...

Paano if you were stuck with Jollibee and McDo?? As in wala ka nang makainan??

What is the safest bet?? Mahirap to di ba?

While SuperSize Me may be an eye opener for some, it's just bad propaganda... You can eat "clean" foods all you want, the equation is the same, consumer more calories than you expend you will get fat.

I think Ham & Cheese from Dunkin is quite ok. They don't use oil. Ok lang ba ham? Wala naman taba e.

processed meat like ham isn't that good actually, very high in fat, sodium and hi-GI carbs... The bread is made of enriched flour which, again is high GI that causes insulin spikes (makes you retain fat from carbs)...

But kung snack lang or something, ok lang, just dont eat too much of it... kung sobrang deprived ka sa malalasang food, bad trip na magdiet hehe.
