i've only done barbell shoulder presses and side laterals for my shoulders ever since. and i can say that it worked for me. never had to train front delts since i feel the barbell shoulder presses are already doing the job. i realized my rear delts have been left behind though. so im adding up bentover laterals in my shoulder workouts.

Good shoulder workout! But please consider doing some front raises for your front delts, they are easy to perform and dosent need to be really heavy. Or if you dont like doing the front raise do some machine hammer grip shoulder press.
which is better and more effective doing behind the back presses or military presses?
They are the same. But if you ask me Ill stick to the Military Press, all behind the neck movements will cause shoulder impeingement (even behind the neck lat pulldown).
when i started working out, i saw more improvements on my shoulder. i also read on an article that you have to start your workout with shoulders when they are fresh.
