Age: 29
Weight: 170lbs
Height: 5'7"
BF: 16%
Gender: Male
Occupation: Technical Writer/Editor, Businessman

When did you start working out? (indicate year and, if possible, month too)

Highschool, around 1993. Stopped 95... Returned to the workout scene Sept 2004

Where do you workout? (please indicate name of gym and short address)

Fitness First, Robinson's Metro East Cainta, Eastwood and (hopefully) Emerald Ave.

How much do you pay monthly for your membership?

P2,100 I think

How often do you work out?

3-10x a week. Depending on "phase"

What are the possible reasons why you work out?

Health and Hobby

What is your goal in working out?

Strength and Bodybuilding

How serious are you in your workout regimen? Do you consider working out as a long term commitment?

Serious, but not too serious that it takes precedence over my time with family and work.

Fitness is a lifelong commitment to your health, so whether it's workout or diet, it should be a long term goal or else you'll just fall back to where you were before.

What is your notion about being “fit”?

Healthy range of bodyfat %, healthy heart and lungs, general digestive health. Actually, the whole body works as one, so it has to be whole.

What does it mean for you to workout?

???

What motivates you to continue working out?

Everything, from seeing improvements on your body, personal records with lifts, more "life" when spending time with loved ones, etc etc.

Why do you workout? Personally? Socially?

Never socially for me, social workouts are just big time and money wasters (if there's such a word). Meeting friends and workout partners are extra benefits of working out, but that shouldn't be the reason for anyone to hit the gym.

What fulfillment do you get when you workout?

Gains... In all aspects, mind, body, confidence, knowledge of self limits and potential.

What and how do you feel before, during and after working out?

Before: Prepped and excited.

During: Focused and Goal Oriented

After: Anxious and excited to see and experience gains.

How has working out influenced your relationship with other people like your family, friends and colleagues?

Everything has been positive. More energy playing with my son, more energy staying up late and waking up early, healthier eating habits influenced my immediate family. Starting this site to educate and influence more.

What do you think of other people who also workout?

Great for them, while most are misled to "cookie cutter" routines and diets that don't maximize benefits, it's still an achievement to finally make the decision and commitment to do something better for themselves and their loved ones. Hopefully, all of us will learn along the way to customize diets and workouts to suit our needs and goals instead of just listening blindly to fad advices.

Has working out changed your life? If so, How?

I think this is the same question as the "influence" question above.

How long do you workout in a given session?

60-70mins max unless I'm doing cardio, which will extend to 90mins (including warmup and cooldown)

In working out, do you focus on the intensity as a whole? or variety of exercises per muscle group?

I don't exactly understand the question, but basically, intensity is the same regardless of bodypart.

Do you find the machines/equipments/dumbells and personel in your gym, necessary to achieve your program?

Yes, to a certain extent. You don't need much equipment to achieve most bodybuilding goals, but if you pay for a membership, they should give you options on what you can use for variety

Jadrobe: You might want to edit your first post and stick the new questions in there so that people won't miss your final 3 questions.

DONE!

oh yeah...that question

In working out, do you focus on the intensity as a whole? or variety of exercises per muscle group?

yung iba kasi diba wlang pake sa rest period...their rest period fluctuates....especially pag may kasama dumadaldal kaya not as "intense" yung workout...and rather, they focus on the number of exercise per muscle group in terms of load yet less intensity. yun!

thanks po sa pag-sagot.

Age: 21

Occupation: Student

Height: 6ft 1in
Weight: 193ibs

Where do you workout? (please indicate name of gym and short address)

Slimmers World Annapolis.
Annapolis St. Greenhills San Juan

How much do you pay monthly for your membership?
paid P9000 for a year.

When did you start working out? (indicate year and, if possible, month too)
1998 March

How often do you work out?
3-5 times a week

What are the reasons why you work out?
stay in shape.
aesthetic purposes.

What is your goal in working out?
A month ago it was to bulk up.
Now its to cut down.
Hahahaha... and the cycle goes on...

How serious are you in your workout regimen? Do you consider working out as a long term commitment?
I take my workouts bery seriously. Yes it is a long-term commitment.
I have long-term goals and short-term goals.

What is your notion about being “fit”?
Being fit, definition varies from person to person.
For one person being fit is being able to run a mile in under 4 mins.
For people like me its being able to maximize strength and mass gains.
For someone in his 80s, sometimes its just being able to take a dump on his own.

What motivates you to continue working out?
A passion for something that I love to do.

Why do you workout? Personally? Socially?
Personally. When I go to the gym I usually keep to myself and focus on lifting.

What fulfillment do you get when you workout?
A feeling of accomplishment.
Knowing that I've gone to failure and then some is the best feeling you can get when working out.

What and how do you feel before, during and after working out?
Hmmm... do I answer this from a emotional standpoint or a physical one?

Before:
Emotional- eager, ready for action
Physically- rested or in pain :p

After
Emotional- If it was a good workout I feel accomplished and content if it was a bad one I feel like total sh*t
Physical- Pain to the nth degeree... (well thats the goal but its not always like that)

How has working out affected your relationship with other people like your family, friends and colleagues?
Not negatively if that's what you're trying to find out. I've made it clear to them that its importnant to me and they respect that. Besides, I usually workout at times that won't interfere with my day to day schedule (mornings, late evening, lunch break)

What do you think of other people who also workout?
Good for them.

Has working out changed your life? If so, How?
Working out has molded me as a person. It has taught me to strive for more than I am capable of but at the same time it has taught me that I do have limits.

How long do you workout in a given session?
30minutes to an 1 1/2 hours. Median time is probably 1hour.

In working out, do you focus on the intensity as a whole? or variety of exercises per muscle group?
I usually workout 1-2 major mucle groups in a workout and I try to make it as intense as possible regardless of the the number of exercises.

Do you find the machines/equipments/dumbells and personel in your gym, well suited enough to achieve your goals?
Nope. They only have DBs up to 60ibs, due to a lawsuit form the people in the flor bellow them. They don't have a preacher curl bench or a hacksquat machine...

Which do you believe is more efficient, free weights or machines?
whats your goal?
mass building will always be best achieved with free weights.
isolation can be achieved with certain free weights movements and most machine exercises.

Hope this helps with your thesis bro. Let us know how it goes. ayt?
