RE: TheVeed's Training Log - Nov 29 onwards

Oh, after 2 months of bulking... I've gained around 8lbs so far, BF remained the same so i did get fatter (kung BF went down, then I maintained BF but gained muscle).

Still cycling around 3000-3200 cal only... By calculation I should be consuming 4K if I want to grow to 185 by May/June.

Quads you can see in my avatar.

When I started with SBD for weight loss. Then 2 months into "testing the waters" phase. You can see how skinny I became after 4 weeks of SBD. You can also see I have almost no traps here.

As slow as it may seem, I'm happy with how my chest and lats are progressing, they were nonexistent before hehe.

Laki ng improvement! Napansin ko din ok arms mo and shoulders. How long did you notice that there are major improvements na?On the time that you're bulking up(intermediate phase kasi advanced ka na ngayon),did you give more emphasis on the weight (how heavy) you are lifting or more of proper execution?Kasi people have different ideas about this. Some say lift very heavy to bulk up,while others say just lift a substancial amount but in proper form.

Honestly, I'm very happy and fortunate that I got my mom's genes sa limbs. My arms and legs are naturally muscular, so I don't need to work them that hard. I think my upper arms are not symetrical to my torso since they're much thicker (in terms of ratio) than my body. I have to work them din naman or else I won't have enough strength to blast my lagging chest and back. Front delts I don't work them that much either... Side delts are slow to respond... I have to find out what kind of exercise those muscle fibers respond to, hence the experimentation.

I think the "fastest" gains I've seen since I re-started last year was my chest. Yes, it's still relatively thin, but I used to have no lines, no center, lowe, outer chest line at all. Flat lang sya talaga, if I pull my arms back, ribcage bones show through kahit nung mataba pa ako. That took around 1 month into bulk...

During the "intermediate" phase (although right now I still consider myself in that phase, until I can go real heavy with a partner, I don't think I can go all out yet), I go heavy but keep it in the 8rep minimum range. I'm sure I can go higher if I base it on my 1-rep max or something, but again, since I don't workout with a partner (and the friggin trainers in FF are lazy asses), I can't go to positive failure with free weights all the time unless I'm using DB or smith.

I go heavy for the first 2-3 exercises, then go volume with the last few exercises.

Still, I don't go heavy to the point that I can't go over 4-5 reps unless the set requires + failure and - failure.

Oh, thanks hehe.

Welcome theveed.Nagtataka lang ako you are lifting 80lbs DB pero you still consider yourself sa intermediate phase?Probably takot lahat ng FT sa FF sa iyo kasi mabigat na buhat mo,kaya iwas sila sa iyo.

Honestly, hindi ako malakas pre, hehe may 3 ako kasabay dun, ang lalakas nila, I can only go 80lbs db sa flat db press, sa incline mahina ako, 55 or so lang kaya ko in strict form...

Sa Metro East may 3 guys dun na malakas (well, sila lang nakikita ko between 6-11am na sched), yung isa nag 75-80lbs incline, strict 10 reps hehe... Although I don't see anyone else doing deadlifts and squats in our branch.

I'm a total wimp sa pullups hehe... unassisted siguro 3 reps lang kaya ko I'm also horrible with ab exercises.

Sa mga trainers, sa Metro East 1 lang ang malaki talaga and malakas, saw him do 5 reps of 250lb incline dati... Sa Emerald branch naman meron din isa...

Pansin ko lang, sa FF, laging 1 or 2 lang ang trainer na malaking katawan talaga, the rest are toothpicks, lalo na mga female trainers, they're just skinny and muscle-less.

It's 10am now, going to the gym now...

Before you start working out,any warm up exercise that you do?Kasi na mention mo na you don't do cardio.Or you just start doing it right away?

Depends on what I'm going to do. I don't consider using the cardio machines for 5mins cardio, it's just warmup.

If it's my back day, I'll use the rowing machine, if it's leg day, I'll use the bike or tread, if it's chest/shoulder, I'll use the ellipse.

But before the main exercise, I do 2-3 sets of really light compounds for those bodyparts. For example, if I'm doing chest, I'll probably do 3 sets of "pump" DB presses with 30lbs or so for 20 reps, then follow it up with 15lb stretch flys... If back, I'll probably start off with hyperextensions and light DB pulls. Legs, I'll just squat real light...

I should cooldown/stretch more actually, especially post workout, hehe... I usually do my stretching/flexing in the shower under really hot water... Shy ako eh...

Oh, here's an added tricep pic taken this am...

http://www.bigberts.com/temp/tricepfeb.jpg

Will workout around 1130 later again... Bicep and forearms later.

Add: I feel weaker these days since I don't get to watch my diet, I doubt if I'm even near 3K right now, which sucks coz I want to go 3500 by now... Budget is tough for the next 2 months hehe... My recovery is much slower as well compared to before... Hay...

Add: Dang, dami pala meeting today, couldn't workout!!!
