CKD (Cyclic Ketogenic Diet)

Hey guys,

Does anyone have any thought on the CKD or other similar diets?

The diet is essentially a modified version of a ketogenic diet (Atkins, 1st two weeks of South Beach...) You keep your daily carb intake at less than 50 grams  and you consume the rest of your calories from protein and fat. The difference is you allow yourself a 36 hour carb up period once a week to keep your strength up and your training intense...

I've been doing this type of diet for around two months and I've lost a good 12ibs. Haven't had my BF% tested but based on my strength I haven't lost too much muscle.

Anyone else try a CKD or TKD and the like?

Energy is normal for a couple of days after my carb up day (sunday). I usually have pretty high energy on monday and tuesday but by wed I start to feel a little lethargic in the gym and can't really move as much weight as I'd like.

Keto has solid principles. We can live without carbs if needed. Just doesnt seem practical and enjoyable.

carb cycling > keto

I wouldn't definitively say that carb cycling is superior to a keto diet. Though from a bodybuilding perspective it probably is.

For a person with no training knowledge that is lazy to log thier carb intake keto might be a better option.

In my case, I put on a decent amount of mass over the last three years and I'm looking to cut down as fast as possible keto seems to have worked very well.
