building upper chest mass

Can you guys suggest what type of body building technique worked for you on the upper chest area, specifically the area below the clavicle(collar bone)?I'm having a hard time developing this particular area. Thanks

jadrobe is right.... just do it before doing flat bench press or flat exercises... but you have to choose between incline db press and incline bench press since they workout the same muscle... i prefer incline db press than incline bench...

Thanks jadrobe and van wilder. One more thing, concerning inclines,is there an ideal angle to make it more effective Will push ups also help? Please clarify one thing for me.I've read somewhere(forum) that since the muscle grows as a whole, incline, flat or decline bench presses really don't matter, what is important is that you train the pec muscles hard as a whole.

yes and no... yes as a whole pero sometimes kailangan din isa-isa... diba every bodybuilder use both isolation and non-isolation exercises?

push-ups? yes its nice na isuperset with incline press... 45% okay... kung saan ka comfortable at nararamdaman mo ng tama... kasi sa gym namin numbers eh walang degrees...

ot: decline press would not do much help unless develop na chest mo...

RE: building upper chest mass

do not exceed 30 degrees if you are going for the inclined bench/flyes for it targets the deltoids more rather than the pectoralis major/minor...

can anyone lecture me on what specific muscle of the chest targets these workouts?

DB pullovers

Close Grip press

Wide Grip press

Cable crossovers

normally ang ginagawa ko lang is incline/flat/decline presses and flys

DB pullovers - ribs - nothing to do much with chest. also for back

Close Grip press - mainly for triceps but also inner chest

Wide Grip press - outer chest

Cable crossovers - if you lean forward, you can target lats, shoulders and inner chest

To have mass on your upper chest, you should do pressing movement.

  1. Dumbell incline press

  2. barbell incline press

Flyes and other exercise are only isolation, they are more on definition than mass building.

Happy lifting!

I always love doing warmup on the dumbells, So i choose a 50lbs dumbell for the warmup and do 15 - 20 reps. After that I'll grab a  90 lbs dumbell and do 2 sets of 8-10 reps.

And on the incline barbell, i start lightweight 125lbs X 12 reps 205lbs X 10 and for the last set 295lbs X 6-8 reps.
