Fitness First Comments

I've been a member since September of this year (2004), Robinson's Metro East branch. I chose this one since it's really close to my house and it opens early (6am) and my membership is valid in their other branches, which is handy since my wife works in Eastwood and I can use that branch if I can't workout during my regular hours.

Like most "fitness" gyms (Slimmers etc) I find it crowded if you work out during popular hours like 9am-1pm 5pm-closing.

Luckily, my branch's member are mostly female between 40-50 year old members so the freeweights aren't really that contested for.

The Eastwood branch has a horrible freeweight/benches ratio to its members. If you go there at night, there are at least 8-12 bodybuilders around and only 5 benches. (Note that by benches, I don't mean a bench press station, but a simple bench).

I've only seen 2 branches so far but the dumbbell count should be much more, maybe 4 sets per weight pair or something. It really sucks having to wait for someone to finish their sets before you can use it.

Speaking of weight users.

Can any gym team members about gym etiquette? It is SO annoying when someone grabs a couple of set of dumbbells or weight plates, use them, then just leave them for the trainers to pickup. RETURN THEM TO THE RACK! It's not that hard. Discipline!

The cardio machines are abundant though, the locker rooms are good as well. Having 2 steam rooms is a plus as well.

I just visited FF sa Eastwood a couple of times but never really worked out there. Ang number 1 napansin ko is sobrang dami ng tao. You're right, hindi masyadong ok ang ration ng gamit sa members. Especially pag-peak hours. Kaso lagi din madami...parang peak lagi.

So I went to Pinnacle Health Point. It's in the same area (Eastwood) pero mas konti ang tao. After all ang habol ko naman is be able to use the facilities. Ok naman ang mga tao (members and fitness instructors) saka ang mga gamit. So far I'm happy with the gym, ang problema lang ang layo from my place (Makati). That's why I'm thinking of moving to FF pa din. Kasi meron sila sa FORT and sa Makati CBD (Robinson's building).

After my membership expires with Pinnacle malamang lipat na ako ng FF.

I have gone around almost all FF centers and i find the ABS outlet to be the most crowded of all. The machines are not enough when you go there at past 6pm. Everyone  just lines up just to use the equipments.

I have also gone to the GH branch and so far, my feedback is just good since they have ample machines for every person in the gym.

I have also gone to the Eastwood branch and i find them to have less machines than the first two outlets i mentioned plus but my rating for the place is just fair.

I also tried going to the Fort branch and i find the place to be a bit crowded even if its not the peak time but the locker area is clean.

Overall feedback ko sa FF is masyadong malamig and ang hirap pawisan.

The Robinson's Metro East branch isn't that bad... I hope the new one at Wynsum Bldg in Emerald will be good... I'll probably work out around 4pm when it finally opens.

How about FF Plus in RCBC? Do they have substantially better equipment?

I have seen that one in RCBC but from the looks of it, it seems that they have better equipments than the other outlet but i cannot fully presume that because i only saw it from the outside.

almost all branches nabisita ko na except rcbc, robinson's summit and metro east....

pinaka-ok pa rin sa akin yung home base ko ... FORT! kaya lang walang bananas and ice tea... bakit kaya?????

kg is standard measurement kasi not pounds... metric is almost always used for accuracy purposes. Actually the dumbbells are all in pounds, only the plates and machines are in KG.

talking about KG and LBS, yung gym ko, KG-based...parang ang bigat nga eh...considering 40 kilos is not just 80 lbs but 88lbs so parang 90 na rin....kaya pag pounds ang buhat ko parang ang gaan (m not bragging) pero pag kilos parang ang bigattttt!!!! solid ata kasi yung mga plates ng KG kesa sa LBS eh....weird..dati yung gym kong mala-talyer yung 35lbs nila hindi pantay yung bigat, mas mabigat yung isa...which i almost spat on dahil muntik na kong mabagsakan.

guys, back to topic. na-try niyo na gold's gym? nagworkout ako dun last week sa glorietta, sobrang kumpleto, free weights galore! pero nun pagpunta ko sa galleria, sobrang kulang. maskonti pa yun free weights nila kaysa fitness first eastwood. bakit kaya yun malalaking gym eh puro equipment and cardio at konti ang free weights? dapat nga maraming free weights eh...

Hehe, edi naging OT yung post if we talk about Gold's... Start a thread nalang regarding Gold's.

BTW, regarding your Q about machines vs freeweights, the more a company focuses on "fitness" clients over weightlifters, machines will always be a priority, it's a sign of "investment" for most customers kasi.

may nabasa ako sa isang magazine, men's health 2003, mas maganda ang malamig na gym kaysa sa mainit para hindi ka daw agad napapagod.

anyway, haven't been to FF Fort, tignan ko na lang kung gaano kalamig dun.
